Wow, What Big... Hair You Have ;-)

Wow, What Big... Hair You Have ;-)

Youtube Creator Sunshine Abuwi has been in and out of the Social Media world for more than seven years: Now that she is back online, What can we expect? Where has she been? And of-course let's talk about the new hair!

NATSUNBLOG: Sunshine, it's been a long time since you posted a blog or vlog; What have you been up to?

SUNSHINE ABUWI: Wow, it HAS been a long time huh?! The last time I posted a video, Debare (my youngest son), was just a few months old and he turned two years old today. So, in the last two years, I moved from Cola, South Carolina to the DMV area and I went back to corporate America, full time.

NATSUNBLOG: What made you want to re-join the work force after being at home for such a long time? What was it like being a working mom of two?

SUNSHINE ABUWI: Before, during and after my pregnancy with Debare, I had the most challenging struggle with depression and anxiety. It was the worst episode and lasted quite a while. In efforts to come out of it, I had a overwhelming desire/need to go back to work. Don't get me wrong, as much as I enjoy being a mom and caring for my home, there is a piece of my identity that is tied into working. Working contributes to my sense of value and gives me the interpersonal and social connections I've been missing.

Being a working mom of two is tough and I have gained such a greater appreciation for working moms. I've now been on both sides. I have been a full time, stay-at-home mom and I've been a working mom with a high stress job. Neither one is easier. Both take the full strength of that woman.

NATSUNBLOG: Talk about "strength of a woman", you are definitely looking more curvy these days. Is that baby weight we see?

SUNSHINE ABUWI: Yes! What you're looking at is leftover baby weight and I can honestly say I am loving every last pound of it. At 5'7" my normal (vlogging) weight is 155lbs, in these shots I'm 181 lbs. I've got a tummy. I've got love handles, I've got some jiggle! I just feel womanly.

It was very important to capture that feeling with this photo shoot. Initially, after the birth of Debare, I was obsessed with losing the baby weight. I wanted to come back to social media talking about how quickly I was able to lose the 30 lbs.

But here we are two years later and I haven't lost even one, but between us girl friends, it feels good to be thick! So, taking these pictures with a crop top and skinny jeans--, is completely out of the norm for me, but I needed to do it.

Flaws and all I need to honor the beauty that makes me a woman.

NATSUN BLOG: This is the first time we have seen you with braids, how do you like them?
SUNSHINE ABUWI: I am so in love with the box braids. They've been my secret obsession for a long time. I am embarrassed at how much time I spend drooling over pictures and videos of women with box braids. I just barely had enough hair to have the box braids installed and I could not be happier.

They've been installed about three weeks now and it is time for a touch up around the edges. However, the new growth has made styling even more fun.

NATSUNBLOG: Now that we've seen you, does this mean you're here to stay? Are you ready to commit? If yes, what can your readers and subscribers expect?

SUNSHINE ABUWI: Without a doubt, yes! I am finally happy enough with myself and confident in my God given abilities to put myself out there again.
